Patrick « Pat » Ross Barry
It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick R. Barry announces his passing on Thursday, January 18th at the age of 78. Pat passed away peacefully, after a long eight year struggle with Frontal Lobe Dementia, with his loving family by his side.
Pat will be remembered for his contagious smile and warm hugs that filled our hearts with so much love. Those left to mourn Pat’s loss, with gratitude for his life and legacy are his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn; his children, Cathy (Randy) Enman and Bonnie (Larry) Bodnar; Grandchildren, Siobhan (Wes) Oudith, Tyler and Sean Enman, Cole and Josh Bodnar; Great-Grandchildren, Xander and Natalie Oudith; Brothers, Bud Barry, Dale (Judy) Barry, Doug Barry; Brother-in-law, Jim Grayson; Sister-in-law, Betty Grayson as well as numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Ed Barry; his mother, Marie Barry; sister-in-law, Linda Barry and mother-in-law, Dorothy Grayson.
Pat was a lifelong resident of Wetaskiwin, Alberta. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and an amazing Grandpa. Pat was a proud lineman, retiring at the age of 53 after 30 years of service with Calgary Power/Transalta. Hockey was huge part of Pat’s life; he managed the Wetaskiwin Colonels and played Oldtimer Hockey with the Wetaskiwin Relics. He enjoyed many wins, championships and most of all great friendships. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed ice fishing, spending time around the campfire at the lake and a huge sports fan who loved cheering on his favorite teams, the Edmonton Oilers and Eskimos. Pat will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel, 5302-50 Avenue, Wetaskiwin, Alberta
on Wednesday, January 24 at 1:00 PM.
If friends desire, in lieu of flowers memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation -Long Term Care .
