Obituary for
Oscar David Lawrence
Lawrence, Oscar, 82, Greenville, passed away peacefully, December 11,2018 in The Meadows Home for Special Care, with his loving family at his side. Born April 1,1936 he was a son to the late Alvin and Mable (Tasco) Lawrence. Oscar held many jobs in his life. His most enjoyed was his time on the Prince of Fundy and as a Custodian at PA Best, the Annex and Yarmouth Consolidated High where he not only took care of the buildings but was a caretaker and advocate for the students. In his younger years, Oscar enjoyed being out in the community, fishing, and most of all making friends and socializing. Later, Oscars home away from home was the time Out Lounge where community members would regularly drop in for a visit and a chat. Dad was sad when the Time Out closed but it didn’t take long for him to establish himself as a regular patron at Dooley’s where once again people would drop in just to have a chat. At home, Oscar was always willing and often found playing cards or rumolli with friends and family. When Oscar was not at the kitchen table, he was sitting in his chair watching the community members come and go. Horns were heard often as a hello from people passing by. Oscar is survived by his loving wife Angeline; daughters Pearline Lawrence, Dartmouth; Wendy Lawrence, Halifax; Son Lloyd Lawrence, Halifax; 15 Grandchildren and many great grandchildren; brothers Monty Lawrence, Ontario; Sheridan Lawrence, Greenville; sister Eunice Johnson, Halifax.
