Nancy Anne O’Hara
Date July 16, 1943 to December 18, 2018
It is with heavy hearts we share the sudden passing of our mom, Anne, surrounded by family at the QEII site on Tuesday, December 18th. She passed away peacefully with us by her side. She was a simple soul that just wanted to be loved and to be there for others before herself. Her free-spirit, beautiful smile and infectious laughter will live on through all of us and remind us to live our best lives as that is what she would want most. She will always be remembered for her strength and resilience and desire to never burden others even in times of hardship. Mom could be very stubborn and wanted to live her life her way but those that she shared her life with are that much richer because of her. There is no one who could find as much humour in everything, the way she did and we loved her for that. We will hold close to our hearts our times together and always remember wherever a beautiful soul has been; there is a trail of beautiful memories. If there is anything she would want us to do, it would be to always remember to forgive often and love with all your heart. To never forget to tell those that mean the world to you how much you love them, and to show them by being there for them and spending time together. Remember to be grateful for the littlest things in life, so that you always appreciate not only what you have but more importantly who you have in your life. Mom has shown us how quickly we can lose those we love and although there are many things we never got to tell her, we know in our hearts she knew how truly loved she was.
Mom was born in Halifax and from Grand Dessert. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Evelyn Lapierre. Mom leaves behind her son Shawn O’Hara (Claire Milton), daughter Lynn Masey (Paul), her precious grandchildren she adored, Kristina (Michael), Nick, Courtney, Rose, Mary. Her grandchildren were so special to her and whether it was talking to them online or going out with them, she always kept in touch. Mom was from a family of 11, Louis,Anne,Anita,Edward,Jeannette,Bernadette,Mary,Austin,Lawrence,Jacqueline,Claudette. She is predeceased by her siblings Mary, Austin, Jeanette. Survived by Louis (Joan), Anita,Edward,Bernadette, sister in law Mary, Lawrence(Donna),Jacqueline,Claudette, many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Anne was a stay at home mom raising her two children and later worked part time at Sears. She loved to shop and enjoyed her Starbucks coffee, enjoyed family gatherings and loved her sweet treats. She enjoyed spending time on her computer and social media chatting with friends. She was artistic and enjoyed the little things in life.
The Family would like to thank her sisters, Jacqui and Anita for their loving support in hospital ,her homecare workers, and to the hospital staff for caring for her. Mom would want us to take this time to honour her with family over Christmas and we will hold a Celebration of Life in January. In memory of our mom, please show an act of kindness to someone in need, donation to a food bank or shelter and always remember your act of kindness could make the difference for someone.
