Obituary for Mildred Nelles
Mildred Nelles, 95 years, died peacefully in her sleep at Fiddick’s Nursing Home in Petrolia Ontario on Thursday November 1st, 2018. Born in Kitchener/Waterloo Mildred raised her family in Hornepayne Ontario. She was a resident of Petrolia for the past 25 years. She was predeceased by her husband Norman (2005), a son Murray (2009), and a daughter Darlene Hockenhull (2018) as well as four brothers and one sister. She will be missed by her sister Norma Diegel and her children Roger, James (Diane), Sharron (Tom) Harrison, Gary (Judy), Nancy Patkau, Kim (Diane), Susan Reynolds, Billy (Lorna), Sherry (Tim) Smith, Tammy (Ron) Bishop, and Paulette (Gerald) Mackie. She also leaves behind 26 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
Family was everything to Mildred and she showered them with her love and shared her creative talents with them. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook and bake for her family and friends and loved to sew. Her special friend was “Tango” her little dog. Her love of animals continued with the collection of many stuffed toys that she accumulated over the years in the nursing home. The family greatly appreciated the wonderful care and compassion provided by both staff and management throughout her stay in the Fiddick’s Home.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia on Monday November 5, 2018 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Hillsdale Cemetary, Petrolia.
