At Hospice House in Fredericton on Tuesday June 5, 2018,
Mildred « Millie » Beatrice Lewis passed away at the
age of 80. Born in Fredericton, she was a daughter of the late Robert
and Etta (Mills) Murray and wife of the late Robert Arden Lewis.
Millie had a 39 year long career at the Daily Gleaner. She served as a
past president and an honorary president of the Royal Canadian Legion
branch 4; past president and honorary president of the Ladies
Auxilliary of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 4 and was a life member
of both the branch 4 Legion and the branch 4 Ladies
Auxilliary.
Millie enjoyed playing cards and travelling for tournaments.
She had endless compassion and loved to give of her time. She was
dedicated to helping others and often visited the DVA. She was an avid
supporter of the Poppy campaign.
She is survived by two sons Kenneth, and Gregory (Linda); a
sister Dora; brother George (Stella); sisters-in-law Florence and
Jean; brother-in-law Ronald Lloyd; several nieces and nephews. She was
also predeceased by a brothers Miles, Gerald and Russell; a sister
Mae; brother-in-law Bill Armstrong; a sister-in-law
Faye.
The family will receive visitors at Bishop’s
Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Sunday from 2-4
& 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at
Bishop’s Funeral Home on Monday June 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm. A
private family interment will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in memory of Millie may be made to
Hospice Fredericton or the Royal Canadian Legion branch 4
Fredericton.
