It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michele (Mike) LaRiccia on December 28, 2017 at the age of 88. Our father passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maria DiCorrado, daughters Rosaria, Stefania (Daniele Palma) and Evelyn (Frank Rivard). Cherished grandfather of Anthony, Mike, Tessa, Vaughn, Jacob and Mia.
Mike was the proud owner of Mike’s Beauty Salon for over 45 years in Metcalfe Ontario. Born in San Martino in Pensilis, Italy, he came to Canada to build a better life for his girls. Working 6 days a week, retirement was never an option. Mike never failed to open his shop at 7am every morning until 4 months ago when his Alzheimer’s progressed to where he could no longer work. Our heart breaks at the loss of our sweet father, but we know that he is now at peace and no longer suffering.
It was our father’s wish that we hold two masses in his memory. Friends and family may pay their respects at St. Anthony Church for a memorial mass on Saturday January 6 at 10am. The second mass in memory will take place at St. Catherine’s of Sienna in Metcalfe at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
