Martha Hilda Hoehne 1936 – 2018
Martha Hilda Hoehne (nee: Loewen) was born on August 29, 1936 in Coaldale, Alberta as the second baby of triplets. She was pre-deceased by: her infant triplet sister, Mary (in 1936); her parents, Jacob John Loewen (in 1983) and Helen Loewen (nee: Harder in 1997); and her infant son, Dwight David Hoehne (in 1962). She is survived by her loving husband Herbert; her sister Helen Lacey of Houston,Texas; her brother Henry Loewen (Lena) of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; Anne Penner of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Lydia Labun of Kelowna, British Columbia; her triplet brother, Tom Loewen (Mary) of Kamloops, British Columbia; Esther Kresier (Lloyd) of Edmonton, Alberta; Abe Loewen (Iona) of Grassmere, British Columbia; Jace Loewen (Elvira) of Ladysmith, British Columbia; Naomi (Amy) Gajdostik of Lethbridge, Alberta; Ruth Dyck (Waldo) of Winnipeg; and David Loewen of Oosoyos, British Columbia.
She is also survived by her twin daughters: Jacqueline Davis (Blair), grandsons Michael and Christopher of Winnipeg; Joyce Feere (Darren), granddaughter Breanne Lieuwen (Nathan), great grandson, Wesley Lieuwen, granddaughter Andrea, granddaughter Jenna, and grandson Ryan, all of Cranbrook, British Columbia.
Martha and Herbert were married in Minitonas, Manitoba on December 28, 1960. They resided for a short time in Edmonton and Sioux Falls, South Dakota to complete schooling and took up residence in Minitonas in 1966. Their twin daughters were born in Swan River and were raised and later married in Minitonas. They are long time, faithful members of the First Baptist Church in Minitonas. Martha was an active member of ladies’ groups and sang in the choir. She was a contented homemaker and delightful wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. She loved and cared for her family, her church family, and her friends.
Martha came to know Jesus as her Saviour and Lord early in life. Her passion for Bible study and faithfulness in service extended beyond her community. She accompanied Herbert on many oversees missions trips and served as his companion and helper. Although her mind and body failed her in recent years, she remained cheerful and content in the care of her loving husband. She entered the presence of her Lord in Swan River Hospital surrounded by family.
An evening visitation was held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Steven Black, was held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from the First Baptist Church in Minitonas, Manitoba. Interment followed in the Minitonas Cemetery.
