It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lydia Licis on December 19, 2018 at the age of 92.
Lydia was born in Roennen, Latvia on December 16, 1926 to parents Alexander and Emilie Lehmann.
Lydia is survived by her son Brian (Lisa), seven grandchildren Kyle, Miri, Febbyanca, Ricky, Eric, Sheila, Christine, and seven great grandchildren Nevaeh, Marli, William, Michael, Amber, Kyra and Cianna.
She also leaves behind sister Inge, and brothers Art (Beverly), Willy (Maryanne), and Hugo.
Lydia was predeceased by her loving husband Albert, son Henry, sister Gerda, and brother Adolf.
After the heartbreaking passing of her soul mate Albert in 1995, Lydia continued to fulfill a purposeful and essential role in our lives, providing motherly guidance to Brian and Henry, undivided love and support of her grandchildren, and a unifying presence for staying connected with relatives, friends and neighbours. Lydia was an inspiration to us, courageously continuing to live independently in the Lendrum home in Edmonton that Albert built in 1963 until her final days. She loved her garden and flower beds and continued to work and nurture them this past summer. But nothing made her happier than being with her grandchildren, especially cheering them on in their sporting endeavors.
We will dearly miss Lydia’s amazing home cooked meals, her glowing smile and her hope.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Lydia Alice Licis December 19 2018..
