Root, Joe passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday December 26, 2018. Amariah Joseph Root of Saugeen First Nation at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Rita Root for 57 years. Loving father of Letitia (Harold) Thompson, Valencia (Gerald) Anoquot, Melissa (Stacey) Root. Proud papa to Miranda, April (Jordan), Sammi-Jo, Sky, Lacey, A.J., Nimkii, Mkoons, and Great Papa to Shyla, Ella, and Nolan. Special Papa to Eden and Courage, who always enjoyed their time spent with him. Survived by his Aunt Christina Wesley, and by all of his extended family. Predeceased by his mother Nancy Root, and by his sons Elroy and Amariah. Visitation at 766 French Bay Rd, Saugeen First Nation on Saturday December 29, 2018 from 6-9 pm, and on Sunday from 2-9 pm. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Joe Root will be held at the James Mason Memorial Cultural Centre, on Monday at 1 pm. Interment to follow at French Bay Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
