It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Joe Ann McDermott at age 65 on Saturday December 1, 2018 at the Stratford General Hospital. Much loved sister to Tom and Bill McDermott of Stratford. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Anne McDermott. Joe Ann will be greatly missed by her Aunt Florence and many cousins and their families in Ontario and B.C. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the many staff who supported Joe Ann over the last 26 years from Community Living Stratford and Area (CLSA). A very special thanks to Joe Ann’s current CLSA support worker, Kathy Brunato, who for many years has faithfully cared for her. Our deep appreciation is extended to Pauline and Len Parr who opened their home to Joe Ann for many years. Also, our sincere gratitude is also extended to the staff at the People Care Long Term Care facility in Tavistock for the excellent care of Joe Ann over the last 7 years. They affectionately called her, “Jo Jo”. We also would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at the Stratford General Hospital for their caring support of Joe Ann during her time there. Visitation to be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford on Thursday December 6, 2018 at 1pm with service at 1:30 p.m. and a reception to follow. Interment at Avondale Cemetery.
