OBITUARY
Joan (McEwen) Berthelot
October 30, 1933 – October 25, 2018
It is with sadness that the family of Joan (McEwen) Berthelot, wife of the late Harold Berthelot, announce her passing on October 25, 2018 at the Campbellton Nursing Home.
Joan was born on October 30, 1933 in Campbellton, to the late Harvey McEwen and Myrtle (Friars) McEwen both of Sus, NB.
Joan will be missed by her nine children: Julie Adams of Spruce Grove, AB, Michael of Campbellton, Carolyn Bertsch of Mississauga, ON, Linda (John) of Campbellton, Paul of Campbellton, Cheryl Duguay (Richard) of Medicine Hat, AB, Pat (Sue) of Lethbridge, Lisa of Calgary and Cindy Shannon (Patrick) of Davidsonville, MD. She is also survived by brother Wally McEwen of Moncton and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Donald of Campbellton.
Joan was known as Ma and Oma to her seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. While bringing up a large family, Joan worked most of her life and retired from the City of Campbellton after more than 25 years of service.
Joan loved travelling with her children to many parts of the world and loved sharing stories of her travels, especially with her close knitting club friends. She loved cooking for family gatherings, playing bingo and cards with many special friends over the years. She had a great sense of humour.
Special thanks to the excellent care our mother received from the staff at the Campbellton Nursing Home.
A funeral mass will be held at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Saturday November 10th at 11:00 am.
Visitations at Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St., Campbellton, Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00.
Donations to the Nursing Home or the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
