On Friday October 13, 2017, long time Penticton resident Jean Rawkins passed away at Haven Hill Care Centre at the age of 100. Jean was predeceased by her husband Peter in 2007.
She is survived by her sons, John of Penticton and Mark (Pat) of Okanagan Falls; grandchildren, Scott (Alex), Alan (Kirsten), Nicole, Jeremy, Kimberly (Kevin); and four great grandchildren and many more extended family in Canada and the US.
Jean was born and raised in Vancouver and was the eldest of six children.… Read More » Jean and Peter moved from West Vancouver to Mission, to Trail and finally settled in Penticton in 1960. Everywhere she went she was involved in community organizations. In Mission and Trail she was involved with the Kinettes and Rotary. In Penticton she was involved in the IODE and worked in the Thrift Shop well into her 90s. She was a long-time member of St. Saviours Anglican Church and served on various committees in the church. She celebrated her 100th birthday in June of 2017 with her family at Zias Stonehouse Restaurant in Summerland.
A Celebration of Life will be held in 2018.
The family wishes to thank the care-aids and the Rehab staff at Haven Hill for their compassionate care. In memoriam donations, to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation would be appreciated.
