It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Hugh Muir, age 86, announce his passing on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Northside General Hospital, who provided excellent care. Hugh was the youngest of six children (Josephine, Gladys, Muriel, Katherine and Robert) born to Georgina and Hugh Muir from New Waterford. Hugh worked in the coal mines in Cape Breton at a very early age and then ventured on the ships through the Great Lakes for 17 years. Hugh then worked in the steel plants in Hamilton, ON and then finally in construction until retirement in Winnipeg, MB in 1997. Hugh was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Muir (nee Wadden), who passed June 4, 2004. Hugh was commonly known as Junior to friends and family. Hugh is survived by all his children, Marlene, Robert, Keith, Lyn and Lisa. Hugh also has four grandchildren, Rikki, August, Rocco, and Daniel. Hugh has many Nephews and nieces with a special thank you to Ernie, Karen and Hal for their love and support for our Father. Numerous friends and relatives are not mentioned, but we are thinking of you from the bottom of our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held for Mr. Muir at the Patten Funeral Home at 71 Union St, Glace Bay at 1 p.m. Thurs Nov 1, 2018 followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home.
