HOLOWASH, Hrihorij (Greg)
Peacefully on October 20, 2018 at Extendicare St. Catharines. Beloved husband of the late Gloria Holowash (nee Storoschuk). Predeceased by his parents Natalie and Frederick, brothers Dmytro and Michael (Lydia). Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Olga Holowasz and Joanna Storoschuk and many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. As a psychologist working for the St. Catharines Children’s Aid Society, Greg focused on the protection and well-being of children and their families. His advocacy continued as a member of the St. Catharines and District Shrine Club and excelled in helping with their acclaimed Sports Celebrity Banquets. A dedicated and supportive member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George in St. Catharines, he was always available in times of need. Greg and the love of his life Gloria enjoyed spending time with family the most, and they never seemed to miss a birthday or special occasion. They loved to travel and it was usually in a group of either family or friends. Thank you Dr. Rabin, Joanne Wintermute, Spectrum Transportation and the Niagara Health Kidney Care clinical teams at both the St. Catharines and Welland sites. A special thank you to the phenomenal staff at Extendicare St. Catharines. Your care and kindness are unsurpassed and we were blessed to have known you all. A perennial scholar with a winning smile, a loving son, husband, brother, uncle and friend. Rest In Peace, Memory Eternal. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, October 24 from 6-8 p.m. Panachyda will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George, 8 Augusta Ave, St. Catharines on Thursday, October 25 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George or the Niagara Health Foundation.
