Obituary Overview
Hazel Yule
Peacefully, on October 16, Hazel Yule passed away at the age of 97. She will be remembered with love by her daughters, Margaret Leduchowski and Bev Wire (Mark) and her grandchildren Chris Leduchowski (Paula), Cory Leduchowski (Liane), Melanie Wire, Matthew Wire and her five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert, her son in law, Wayne Leduchowski, her parents and her brothers Bill and Ken.
Hazel was born along with her twin brother Ken to William and Eliza Low in Winnipeg on May 29, 1921. She married Albert (Hap) Yule on June 6, 1947 and they shared 68 happy years together before his passing in 2015. Hazel was a stay at home mom and she loved to bake. Everyone will fondly remember Nanny’s specialties: melting moments, scones, crumb cake, trifle and her Xmas shortbread. Her goodie packages were always appreciated.
Mom loved spending time at the family cottage at Sandy Hook. She enjoyed reading, knitting and needlepoint. In her younger days, she curled and then became an avid armchair curler – if there was a game on TV, she was tuned in. She also enjoyed watching most sports and was particularly interested in the Bombers and the Jets. She was a crossword puzzle aficionado and an absolute whiz at Scrabble right up until the end.
Nanny was a quiet and unassuming lady who was tremendously proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She always asked “what’s new” and delighted in hearing details of all the kids’ activities.
Hazel was a resident of Kildonan Care Centre since December 2014. She was treated with care and dignity by the wonderful 3rd floor staff who respected her quiet and private nature. Her family thanks the staff for the kindness and compassion given to our Mom and to us.
In accordance with Mom’s wishes, there will be a private family service. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Hazel Ogston Yule 2018..
