GIUSEPPINA SPINA
Mrs. Giuseppina (Josephine) Spina, age 84 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 1, 2018 in the Thunder Bay Hospital with her loving husband and family by her side. Josephine was born in Toro in the Campobasso region of Italy on September 6th, 1934. At the age of 20, Josephine made her journey to Canada to be with her loving husband of 63 years, Michele Spina.
Josephine’s entire life revolved around family and she devoted every waking moment to ensure that those around her were loved and cared for. She was strong beyond words and was there for every single major event in her extended families lives. The hole she leaves by her passing isn’t even remotely possible to fill. Josephine was also a dedicated friend to those lucky enough to call her that and a long time congregant of the St. Agnes Catholic Church, a place she often visited for strength and solace.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Michele Spina, her daughter Rosa (Kevin) Mahoney, her son Joey (Rosy) Spina, her son Pat (Ann) Spina and grandchildren, Sarah (Len), Stephanie (Colby), Ashley (Elder), Alana (Curtis), Michael, Nathan, Ariana and great grandchildren Oliver, Vincent and Parker, sisters Michelina Melideo, Cecilia Genovese, Angelina Antonucci and brothers Antonio Bizzarrino and Michele Bizzarrino and numerous other family members across Canada and Italy.
Josephine was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Maria Bizzarrino and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services for the late Josephine Spina will be held on Wednesday , December 5, 2018 with family and friends gathering in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 12:10 celebrated by Fr. James Panikulam. Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 4 in the evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:45 PM in the chapel.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Mark Preece Family House in Hamilton, Ontario with no flowers respectfully requested.
