Gerard « Gerry » E. McNulty
1936-2018
January 8, 1936 –
November 11, 2018
It’s with immense sadness that I announce
the peaceful passing of Gerry McNulty on Remembrance Day 2018 in Saint
John, at the age of 82 years.
Gerry was born in Saint John 1936, the only child of Edmund
and Josephine McNulty, on what is now Highland Road (then Pokiok
Road), Saint John, NB.
After studies in Brockville and Windsor, ON, he spent a few
years studying in Cortona, Italy. He got to Quebec City in 1962 and
made his career at Laval University as a professor of
anthropology/linguistics. He raised his two sons in their home in
Lac-Beauport.
In 2003 he met me, Rebekah, in Sweden and I came to be his
wife. I subsequently moved to Canada and we lived in Quebec but
eventually relocated to Saint John back in
2008.
Gerry had a big warm heart for which he’ll always
be remembered, not to mention his great sense of humour and sharp
mind. He embraced life’s challenges with courage and grace
and his concern for others knew no bounds.
He is survived by his two sons, Denis and Kevin McNulty in
Quebec City and Rebekah, his wife.
Since there will be no visitation or funeral mass
… if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Romero
House Soup Kitchen, (647 Brunswick Drive, Saint John, NB E2L 3S9
506-642-7447).
I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to the loving and caring
staff at SJRH Palliative Care Unit
(3BN).
Arrangements are under the care and direction of
Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111
Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424).
