Eleanor E. (Greene) Young

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Elizabeth (Greene) Young age 71, beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, on Tuesday December 18, 2018 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Upper North Sydney, April 20, 1947, Eleanor was a daughter of the late Gordon and Isabelle (Keeping) Green. She was employed for a number of years as an office receptionist with Dr. Gordon MacKenzie. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, sang in the church choir and was active with the church guild. Eleanor enjoyed camping with husband Fred at their trailer in Dunvegan at MacLeod’s Campground.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband Fred Young, three sisters Eileen Ward, Quispamsis, NB, Dorothy “Dot” (Gordon) MacLeod, Anne (Sandy) Jackson, her brother Ken (Louise) Greene, all of North Sydney, also by several nieces and nephews and her furry companion Molly.
Besides her parents Eleanor was predeceased by uncles Bill Keeping, Sid Green, Sonny Greene, by aunts Elizabeth Moores, Nina Luffman and Helen Hatcher, brothers-in-law Donald Ward and J.B. MacSween.
The family would like to thank the VON and the homecare workers especially Debbie Nicholson.
Visitation for Eleanor will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. John Hannem officiating
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, Parkinson Society, Canadian Diabetic Association, Canadian Cancer Society, SPCA or a charity of choice.
