La célébration de
Edward Sutherland
17 février 1932 –
3 décembre 2018
We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our dearly beloved father and grandpa. Edward was born in Stirling, Scotland on February 17, 1932 and died peacefully at home on December 3, 2018. He is now reunited with his loving ‘Ali’, his wife of 57 years. Cherished father of Lynne (Alan) Jones, Sandra (Eric) France and Yvonne (Jim) Sutherland-Case. Proud grandpa of Gillian (Bill) Ceaser, Kyle, Claire, Shane, Declan, and Maeve and great-grandpa of Reese. Will be missed by extended family and friends in Canada and Scotland. Eddie immigrated to Canada in 1957 and worked at Stelco from 1959 – 1984. As a life time union activist, Ed served as a recording secretary for Local 1005 USWA. He was a very proud member of the Korean War Veterans Association of Canada Unit 26, serving with the British Army in Korea for 5 years. Ed was a 59 year member of the St. Andrew’s Lodge 593. He was an avid outdoorsman who instilled a love of nature and compassion for all living things in his family. Our dad was an honourable man with a kind and gentle soul, but beyond all else, he loved his family with a fierce sense of pride. He will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone that was lucky enough to have known him.
Friends and Family are invited to a time of visitation being held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road E., Hamilton on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Edward’s Life will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the ‘William J. Markey Chapel.’ If desired, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
