E. Bernice Orde
April 23, 1922 ~ August 11, 2018
Edith “Bernice” Orde (nee: Thorne), age 96, of Falmouth, formerly of Windsor and Granville Beach, Annapolis County, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth.
Born on April 23, 1922, in Lower Granville, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Bernice was the daughter of the late James “Jim” and Mary (Armstrong) Thorne.
Bernice was very involved and dedicated to her church and the community in Granville Beach. She was a strong and determined woman, who was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Blakely (Ken Parker), Falmouth; daughter-in-law, Judy Orde, Mount Denson; her grandchildren, Michael (Jody) Woodworth, Monica Woodworth, Kate (Gary O’Connor) O’Rourke, Vanessa Orde-White (Ivor MacGregor), and Jeff (Jennifer) Orde; and great-grandchildren Maggie, and Eric (Rukaiya) Woodworth; Michael (Amanda) Hume; Amelia O’Connor; Cassidy and Carter White; Erica Orde (Dylan Pemberton), and Ben Orde.
Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Charles ‘Charlie’ Harold Orde (2001); sons, Brian and Donald “Don” Orde; grandson, Gregory Orde; sister, Vivian LeCain; brothers, Philip and William Thorne.
There will be no visitations by request.
A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. The Rev. Garnet Parker is officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Stoney Beach Cemetery, Granville Beach.
