Doris Isabelle Devlin (Shantz), age 92 of Stratford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at the Stratford General Hospital on September 27, 2018. Born in Stratford, August 2, 1926, daughter of the late Milton and Ellen (Cahill) Shantz. Beloved wife of the late Jack Devlin (2001). Loving mother of Blaise Devlin, Tracy Devlin and Deirdre Brown (Dan). Grandmother of Chad Brown (Sarah), Steve Brown (Emily), Jenny Van Straaten (Nick), Matt Brown (Brianne). Great grandmother of Jack, Joe, Mackenzie, Caitlin and Blaise. Dear sister of Valerie Campbell, Elaine Lewicki (Joe), Carole McGuire (Ken), Father Russell Shantz and Eugene Shantz. Also survived by sisters-in-law Fran Shantz, Mary Lou Shantz and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Morley (Jeanne), Bruce, Wayne, Marv and sisters Madeline Lee (Roy), Miriam DeBeck (Pete), Elva and Zita Shantz, brothers-in-law Louis Campbell, Dan Devlin (Loretto) and Felix Devlin (Jeanne). Doris lived her life simply enjoying the company of her family, as well she was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Church and the CWL. In respect of Doris’s wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held Monday, October 1 beginning 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford, a reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Special thanks to the Nurses and Doctors at SGH for the compassionate care received while there and also the kind staff & friends at McCarthy Place where she lived happily for the past 7 years.
