Charles was born on July 15th, 1929 in Avonlea Saskatchewan. He is one of 9 siblings.
Being born in the depression made it difficult for the family to remain on their farm and so they sold the cattle for 5 cents a pound and moved West.
As a young man he worked for his dad at a trucking company and on a ranch in Windermere. He later moved to Fernie to work in the coal mines. He met his wife in Fernie and they moved to Calmar where he began working on the rigs. Charles and his wife Mary had a son (Wayne) and daughter (Cathy). Later, the young family moved to Drayton Valley and lived at the Imperial Camp. Charles bought land in Buck Creek and homesteaded in 1960. He began working for Huber Oil and then Pacific 66/Petro Canada for more than 27 years. He retired in 1985.
After he retired, he dedicated his life to his family and doted on his 3 grandchildren. He had a brilliant mind for inventions and he created many contraptions for his grandchildren and for the farm. He loved to garden and always had impressive vegetable crops. Charles was known to go out of his way to help anyone who was in need and for having a witty sense of humor.
He is very loved by his family.
