Obituary of Bruce Cyca
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Bruce Terry Cyca, who left us on Friday, September 7, 2018. We are all trying to focus on embracing his memory, but the reality is that sadness is part of healing after a loss.
Bruce was known for his unique sense of humor and he always made us wonder, “did he really just say that?!” And it always was!! He often confused us and regularly made us roll our eyes, but he was always able to put a smile on our faces. Every moment was Bruce and we embrace his personality and his character.
An elite armchair athlete (Olympic level, really), we suspect he had a reserved barstool at his favorite pub. He was a Leafs fan, a Seahawks fan, Jays, or Riders, it didn’t matter what sport or league, he was the guy shouting at the refs bad call. He always managed to draw people into the fun once they realized that was just who he was.
Bruce had an incredible love for and was so amazing with animals. We want to think that he is with his beloved dog, Star and his very independent cat, Myrtle at this very moment. He would never hesitate to invite any pet to stay with him and would take any excuse to care for them. There are some who say their respect for animals is attributed to Bruce and his love for all creatures.
How do we capture in words Bruce’s love for his (adult) children Selene and Keenan? The only thing that made him more excited than sports, was talking about how proud he was of his kids and what they’ve accomplished. To say that he loved his children doesn’t capture the life experience nor does it deserve to live in an obituary.This is something that we have to leave for Selene and Keenan to process with the support of the people who love them.
We are going to say goodbye to Bruce the only way that we should! We will start with a Graveside Service at Riverside Memorial Park, 815 Assiniboine Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Please meet inside cemetery gates. A wake will follow at Cheers Restaurant and Pub, his favorite watering hole, 863 Argyle Street, Regina, SK.
We encourage everyone to think about saying a few words as we make a toast to Bruce and sadly have to say goodbye. In lieu of flowers, please buy a few drinks at the wake.
