Beulah Marie Trask, RN
1931-2018
PEACE AT
LAST
Beulah Marie Trask, RN – 87, Truro. It is with
profound sadness that we announce the passing of Beulah Marie Trask on
Wednesday evening, October 31, 2018, surrounded by her loving family,
at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born and raised in
Londonderry Station, she was a daughter of the late Bertram and
Alberta (Toole) Lane.
A graduate of Payzant Memorial School of Nursing (1953),
Beulah’s 58 year career as a Registered Nurse was full of
variety, opportunities and challenges which utilized her broad range
of skills. Her working life began in remote Gull Lake, Saskatchewan.
Later, she moved to Edmonton where she practiced as a general duty and
OR nurse before joining staff at the cancer clinic, where she worked
for four years. In 1968, with her four daughters in tow, she returned
to Nova Scotia where she spent 23 years as school nurse at Nova Scotia
Youth Training Centre while working shifts at Colchester Regional
Hospital and doing some private nursing. When the Training Centre
closed, her entrepreneurial skills kicked in and she operated a guest
home in Bible Hill while caring for her mother. Following a move to
Digby in 1998, she nursed at North Hills Nursing Home for ten years
while caring for her in-laws in Little River. Moving back to Truro in
2008, Beulah operated « Ten Toes Footcare » for three
years, retiring for the last time in 2011. She received the Registered
Nurses Association of Nova Scotia’s Excellence in Nursing
Practice Award in June 1991 in recognition of her proficiency. She did
all of this while raising a family!
Beulah was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro,
where she participated in Bible Study and Morning Auxiliary; she read
her Bible daily. She enjoyed traveling, which included eight cruises
and countless trips with Rex in the motor home and the side-car of his
motorcycle. Dancing, swimming, camping, cross-country skiing and
puzzle solving were major interests. Beulah was also known for her
excellent culinary skills and published a collection of cherished
recipes for her children.
Beulah is survived by her daughters, Juanita (Bobby)
