Obituary of Bernard Allen
ALLEN: Bernard James – A resident of Tecumseh, and formerly of Blenheim, Bernard Allen passed away peacefully at the Windsor Regional Hospital – Metropolitan Campus on Nov. 17 at the age of 82.
Born in Windsor, Bernard was the son of the late Frank and Clairena (Hayes) Allen.
Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Delvallet).
Loving father of Chris Allen, Kelly Dominato (Dan),Mark Allen (Denise) and Dave Allen (Karen).
Proud grandfather of Jessica, Christopher, Scott, Heather-Lynn, Nick, Samantha, Jenifer, Jordan, Jayden, Dylan and Brandon. Great-grandfather of 5.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Bernie retired from teaching at the Catholic School Board after many years of service as teacher, vice-principal and outdoor-education consultant.
Bernie loved spending time with family. He was an avid outdoorsman; canoeing, hiking and fishing were his favourites. He had many hobbies including cooking, wine-making and was an excellent bridge player. Bernie and Barbara were married for 57 wonderful years and spent every summer with their family in Nova Scotia. Many amazing memories at Spider Lake and the camp called “Heathen’s Haven” were created there.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Monday November 19, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm. Parish Prayers will be shared at 7pm. Visiting will continue on Tuesday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 95 Marlborough Street North, Blenheim at 10:30am on with Fr. John Juhl as celebrant. Cremation to follow.
Donations made in memory of Bernard to Canadian Cancer society would be appreciated.
