It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Claira “Yvonne” MacDonald announces her passing at. St. Martha’s Hospital on Tuesday November 14, 2017 .
Born in East Tracadie on May 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William John D and Claira Yvonne (LeVangie) Decoste and was raised by her Aunt Jane and Uncle Norman Beshong, after the death of her mother 17 days after Yvonne’s birth.
In 1966 Yvonne married loving and devoted husband, Howard MacDonald and resided in Aulds Cove for the next 51 years.
Yvonne was a kind hearted person and will be remembered for her time spent with her loving family and friends. She took pleasure from the simple things in life; besides being a good homemaker, she was an exceptional seamstress, knitter and loved to crochet as is a testament to the many family and friends who have received her quilts, and crafts; she also enjoyed an evening at Bingo with her friends
Besides her husband Yvonne is survived by her sister in law Lila Beshong (sons Jody (Carrie) and Reggie), niece Lorraine (Clifford) Murphy, grand nieces Carolyn Albert, and Melissa (Mike) Peters, niece Phylis Brown of Toronto; great great grand niece Lainey Beshong ,great great grand nephews Kai and Kalem Peters, special Aunt Agnes Fougere of Havre Boucher.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her mother and father in law Joseph and Ella MacDonald, brothers Elmer , John and Norman Bishong, brothers in law Leo (Kaye) MacDonald, sister in law Geraldine (William) Martin
The late Yvonne MacDonald will rest in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place with visitation Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
Funeral Mass will be offered Friday at 11:00 a.m. from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Allan MacPhie presiding, burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
