June 1, 1933-December 2, 2017
Dad, Grandpa, Husband, Uncle. Passed away peacefully with his loving
family at his side at Hotel Dieu Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Blanche
(Bianca Mastellotto) 2008 and his angel, daughter Diane 1962. He will be dearly
missed by his adoring wife Doreen Cameron. Cherished father to Sherry Evershed
(Phil), Shelly Thrasher (Tom Trbovich) all of Toronto; John Thrasher (Carmen
and her son Brandon). Proud Grandpa to Jacqueline, Christopher, Lauren,
Nicholas, Jordan, Daniel and Abigail. Bill was born the middle child of 16
children to Charles “Devere” and Irene Thrasher of Amherstburg. He is
predeceased by his brothers John (Jack), Raymond (Mike), Richard (Dick), Marwin
(Abe), Gordon, Peter and two infant brothers Jerry and Daniel. Sisters Elaine
Temesy, Martha Wilford, Beverly Nimigon and survived by brothers Les (Carolyn), David (Dorothy), and sisters Mary Jane Waugh and Patricia Dean and sister in law Marilyn Thrasher. Bill is fondly also
remembered by Doreen’s children Kim and Tim Lachance, Karen Cameron, Raymond
Cameron and their families. Bill was a devout Roman Catholic whose unrelenting
faith was the foundation on which his life was built. He was a depression era
child who put himself through school to become a professional engineer. His passion was politics and he was an active
organizer of many local campaigns on behalf of the Conservative Party of
Canada. He was also a founding member and spokesperson for Canadians Asking for
Social Security Equality (CASSE), for whom he fought hard and succeeded for
its’ cause. Throughout the years, Bill’s favourite leisure was enjoying his
lakeside property, fishing, golfing and singing with the local barbershop
chorus. Visitation will be held at Marcotte Funeral Home, 12105 Tecumseh Rd. Tecumseh
ON (226-773-7669) on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the funeral
home on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:15 a.m. to St. John Vianney Church for the Funeral Mass at 12:00PM.
Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windsor
Downtown Mission and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. Online condolences may be left at
