MARSH, William Edward “Bill” (November 20, 1942- April 10, 2017) – It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and great uncle, William Edward Marsh. Bill and his wife Barbara immigrated to Newfoundland from England in 1973, with their two children Karen and Andrew. Christine was born a few years later in St. Lawrence, NL. Bill worked for Alcan in St. Lawrence, IOC in Labrador City, Fishery Products International, Oceanex and finally Memorial University until 2014. Bill was predeceased by his father Gerald Cogan who passed away in 1942 during WWII and his parents Norman (1998) and Nancy Marsh (2006). Bill was a devoted husband and father. He is now reunited with the love of his life Barbara whom he looked after faithfully during her long illness while working and raising his family. His devotion was unwavering. Bill is survived by his children: Karen of Paradise, NL, Andrew in Dryden, ON and Christine (Michael Saunders) of St. Philips, NL; the lights of his life, his grandchildren: Tyler Marsh and Chloe Saunders; step grandchildren Jordan and Glenda (and their mother Sherry); step great granddaughter Faith Hyatt; siblings brother Norman (Gradie) of Mississippi; sisters: Peggy of Topsail, Hazel (Blaine Kelly) of Topsail; two nephews: Ryan (Sara) Kelly, Brad (Kristine) Kelly, and their families whom he loved dearly. Bill also leaves a number of relatives and friends in England and Newfoundland, especially Bill and Donna Warren, who have been his life long friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 and Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral service will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Chapel, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11am. Private family interment will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in Bill’s memory to the Heart and Stroke foundation.
