William “Bill” Humphrey Dowd
1937-2017
The passing of William “Bill” Dowd, husband of Joan
Elaine (Stilwell) Dowd, occurred on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the
Loch Lomond Villa surrounded by family. Bill was born in Saint John,
NB and was a son of the late William and Jean (Humphrey)
Dowd.
Bill was self-employed as the owner of Bill H. Dowd Roofing
Ltd. for many years. In his younger years his enjoyed horse
racing. Bill was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and also
enjoyed a good game of golf. Bill greatest joy was spending time with
his loving wife who he truly adored and loved.
Survived by his sons: Patrick Dowd and Howard Dowd(Laura);
daughter, Lynn Dowd-Beckett(Henry); 6 grandchildren; 7 great
grandchildren; brothers: Bruce Dowd and Terry Dowd(Rosella); sisters,
Maureen Keenan(Mike), Nancy Dowd(Rob), Cindy McKenna(Tom); and many
nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his daughter
Christine Marie Dowd; sisters: Patricia Patten and Marilyn
Boyce; brother-in-law John Boyce and sister-in-law, Dianne
Dowd.
The family would like to thank the staff from Cedar House at
the Loch Lomond Village, and extend a special “Thank You” to
the staff of Elm House at the Loch Lomond Villa for their
compassionate and loving care.
Arrangements are under the care of
Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint
John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, April
10, 2017 from 10 am – 11:45 am. The funeral service will be
held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 10,
2017 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial
Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Bill may be
made to the Alzheimer Society of NB, The Loch Lomond Villa Foundation
or a charity of the donor’s choice.
