William A. Chapman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband and father, William Chapman, age 96, on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, NS.
Born October 3, 1921 in Harbour Breton, NL, he was the son of the late George and Tryphena (Jensen) Chapman.
Bill was an educator for many years throughout southern Newfoundland, beginning in Coomb’s Cove and retiring from John Burke High School, Grand Bank.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce (Shirley) Chapman and by his children, Shirley MacDougall, Hamilton, ON, Bill (Deborah) Chapman, Kentville, NS., John (Claudia) Chapman, Calgary, Alta and Norma Chapman, Stephenville, NL.
Bill was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Tom, Ben, a sister Tryphena and by his son-in-law, Peter MacDougall.
There will be no visitation by request. A private family service and burial will take place in Stephenville, NL. at a later date.
Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home Foundation.
