2017
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
William “Bill” Alfred Sheard was born on December 6, 1925 in Maryfield, SK. He passed away on November 3, 2017 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital with family at his side.
The family is enormously grateful to all the wonderful staff at the Pasqua Hospital, College Park II and the Marion
Chateau.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Margaret Ellyn “Mardie” (nee Powley); and his parents Benjamin and Ida (nee McLoughry).
He is survived by his daughter Kelly-Ellyn Renz (Merv); sons Grant (Kim) and Garth; nephew Benjamin; nieces
Eleanor and Jessica; brothers Robert, Thomas (Katherine), Johnston, Francis (Beverley) and Alex (Bev); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
After volunteering and basic training Bill, was sent to Red Deer for further training, when WWII ended and his family was spared him being sent to Europe. He then translated his service into a Civil Engineering Degree at the U of S and
Masters Course work at the U of A. But for the last 6 years of his career, which he spent as the chair on the SK
Highway Traffic Board, he worked for the SK Department of Highways, ultimately as Chief Engineer. He enjoyed 38 years of retirement.
Bill was fiercely proud of his parents’ and his brothers’ family farm and the diverse accomplishments of all his brothers, his children and his grandchildren. Bill was a much loved role model who will be profoundly missed.
There will be no service and the family will inter his ashes privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Special Olympics Saskatchewan, 1121 Winnipeg St,
Regina, SK S4R 1J5.
Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.
