Obituary for Willem “Bill” Cornelius Arnoldus Brouwers
Willem “Bill” Adrianus Cornelius Arnoldus Brouwers of Calgary, Alberta passed away on January 7, 2017 in Calgary at the age of 69 years. Bill was born in Veenendaal, Holland to Andries and Adriana (Van Barneveld) Brouwers on July 7, 1947. On May 26, 1967, he married Andrea Susan Keen in Vancouver, British Columbia and welcomed the birth of his daughters Angela in 1967 and Melissa in 1969. Bill worked as a Data Manager for Andries Electrical, a family business, for over 20 years. He was a brilliant poet and artist, loved reading and music, and was a storyteller beyond compare. He was the kind of guy who made you feel like a good friend mere moments after you’d met him and his bone-cracking hugs were legendary. Bill was hilariously funny, with a crackerjack wit, a big heart, an easy smile, an artist’s imagination, and a tender soul. He was the kind of man who would go the extra mile to take care of his friends. He loved playing pool with his league and could be seen walking his Yorkshire Terrier, Mickey, every day – rain or shine. Bill will be missed, but he leaves a lifetime of shared moments with each of us and, as we remember our stories about him, he remains alive in our hearts forever. Bill is survived by his brothers Frans Brouwers of Taber, Alberta; Tony Brouwers of Victoria, British Columbia; Adrian Brouwers of Trout Lake, British Columbia; John Brouwers of Chestermere, Alberta; Martin Brouwers of Chestermere, Alberta; Ronald Brouwers of Calgary, Alberta; his sister, Jennie (Brouwers) Vanderburgh of Olds, Alberta; his former wife, Andrea Tiffany of Roberts Creek, British Columbia; and his daughters, Angela Schoening of North Vancouver, British Columbia and Melissa Bianco of San Jose, California. Bill is also survived by many cousins in Holland as well as nieces, nephews, and grandchildren throughout Canada.
