Wilfred R. Logan
Wilfred R. Logan It is with profound sadness ,the family of Wilfred R. Logan of Halifax, announces his passing at Parkstone Enhanced Care, at the age of 93, on December 23,2017.
Wilf was a devoted and loving husband to Ethel for 64 years until her passing in 2014. He was an extraordinary man, an amazing father, and a loyal friend. Wilf was a patient, kind and gentle soul who would offer anyone he met a warm smile and a firm handshake. He was a true gentleman who always put his family first. He was a gifted teacher and taught at the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology for over 30 years until his retirement. Prior to that, he proudly served on active duty at the Royal Canadian Navy as a merchant Marine and also worked as a machinist at the Halifax Dockyard. Together with his wife, Wilf enjoyed many activities and lived life to the fullest. He was a lifelong member of Bethany United Church, and generously gave of his time in many ways. He always fondly recalled the years he served as a Scout Leader. Wilf and Ethel were avid square dancers for many years, and were also very active with Meals on Wheels. Other interest include traveling to sunny destinations, gardening, and doing crossword puzzles. Wilf was predeceased by his beloved wife Ethel, and brothers John (Jack) and Paul. He is survived by his daughters Cheryl (Bill) Champion, and Sandra (Richard) Logan; grandchildren Emily Clarke, Alex and Mitchell Champion; sister Ruth Lively and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. The Funeral service will be held in Bethany United Church on Wednesday, January 3rd 2018 at 2:00, Rev. Kevin Little officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Bethany United Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd.
