DARBY, Wilfred Arthur

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at The Carpenter Hospice in his 96th year. Beloved husband of Jeanie Darby for 67 years. Loving father of Kim Darby and his wife Catherine and the late Jane Darby-Hipple and her husband Don. Cherished grandpa of Rebecca and Thomas. Predeceased by his siblings Christopher Darby (late Helen), Mabel Darby and Jack Darby (late Joan).
Wilfred retired from Stelco as Assistant Comptroller (1986). He was a veteran of RCAF (radar) 1942-45, he was honoured to serve with his fellow Canadians and members of RAF 8th sqn and RAAF 454-459 sqns in the Middle East. He was well loved and known for his devotion to his wife and family.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 4-7 where a Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10:30 am. Reception to follow. For those who wish, donations in memory of Wilfred to the Carpenter Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
