Wayne Robert Lionel Vancoughnett passed away peacefully the morning of October 15, 2017 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife: Marlene (Zaparaniuk) Vancoughnett; three children: Wayne (Jillian) Vancoughnett, Marnie (Chris) Bieber, and Marla (Nathan) Meginbir; grandchildren: Abigail Vancoughnett, Aliyah Meginbir, Kate Vancoughnett, Keagan Meginbir and Nicholas Vancoughnett. He was predeceased by his parents: Mervin and Margaret Vancoughnett and his in-laws: Nick and Dora Zaparaniuk. Wayne Vancoughnett was born on March 6, 1941 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was the child of Mervin and Margaret (Weldon) Vancoughnett. Wayne spent most of his life in La Ronge, where he owned Wayne’s Lumber Ltd. for 42 years. He was a hard worker who spent long hours working to provide for his family. On June 17, 1978, Wayne married the love of his life Marlene Zaparaniuk. Between the years of 1981 to 1985, their three children were born. There are no words that can encompass Wayne as a father. He was truly extraordinary. He did everything for his family, and family came first. Wayne was passionate about woodworking and loved being outdoors. He spent most of his weekends at the cabin enjoying time with his wife and children. He loved fishing, boating, and being out on the lake. Wayne also had five grandchildren that loved and adored him. He always seemed to get the best smiles and laughs from them. He was truly a great man with a gentle heart, and will be greatly missed. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
