MOUSEK, WALTER RUDOLF
– Age 91 years of Whycocomagh. It is with
sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband
and father, Walter Rudolf Mousek on Sunday, November 5, 2017
surrounded by loving family at the Inverary Manor,
Inverness. Born in Wilkischen, Czech on October 24, 1926, he was a son
of the late Anton and Marie (Woller) Mousek. Walter immigrated to
Canada in 1952 and met his loving wife Erika. They wed in 1957. They
made Whycocomagh their home in 1969.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Erika (Ahlers),
Whycocomagh; daughters, Christal MacDonald (Kenny), British Columbia;
Monica MacLennan(Innis), Whycocomagh; sons, Peter, Olds, Alberta;
Henry (Carol), Rothesay, New Brunswick; Mark (Sherryl), Nevada Valley;
grandchildren, Nicholas, Justin, Marlee, Cailee, Jenna, Ryan, Kyle,
Amy, Nicole, Luke, Spencer, Hannah and 10
great-grandchildren.
Walter was a loving and devoted husband and father. Erika and
the children cherish many memories of Walter taking them on weekend
picnics enjoying the beautiful scenery of Cape Breton. Walter was
always supportive of his children’s interests and activities
throughout their childhood. He was often seen at their events and
games, cheering at the many sporting venues or happenings. Walter
instilled in his children the importance of a good education, a work
ethic and strong moral values.
Walter was also proud of his home and community. He always
thought of others first, quick to help anyone in need.
Walter loved Cape Breton, in his younger years he was an avid
hunter and enjoyed photography. He was a long-standing member of the
Whycocomagh Yacht Club. Walter, Erika and Mark spent many summer days
sailing the beautiful waters of the Bra D’or Lakes in his
sailboat ‘Ragus’.
Walter retired from the Gulf Oil refinery after 21 years of
distinguished service.
There will be no visitation. A service to celebrate
Walter’s life will be held Thursday, November 9 at 11a.m. in
Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Rachel Campbell
officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in Walter’s
memory may be made to the Inverary Manor.
Walter’s family would like to thank the staff of
the Inverary Manor for the dignity, respect and loving care they
showed my husband and our father.
