Walter C. Hodgson passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers
Hospital on Saturday, April 8, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Anna Mary (Rice)
Hodgson and Walter Clifton Hodgson Sr.
Walter is survived by one son, Peter (Barbara) of Vermont;
one daughter, Kathy MacDonald (Chuk) of Fredericton; grandchildren,
Mary Hodgson of Miramichi, Cody Hodgson of Vermont,
Elizabeth Price (Wendell) of Woodstock, Patricia Cann
(Zachary) of Fredericton, Jennifer Mitton of Calgary; great
grandchildren, Morgan and Mya Hodgson of Miramichi; and sister, Mary
Atkinson of Miramichi. In addition to his parents, Walter was
predeceased by his wife, M. Jean (Farnham) Hodgson; and siblings,
Martha, Phyllis, Gwen, Alice and Douglas.
Walter began his career at Canadian Pacific Railway and then
went on to work for the Department of Transportation for the next 29
years, as an Engineering Technician. In 1957 he married the love of
his life, Jean, and in 1964 they moved from Saint John to Fredericton
where they would remain to raise their family. Walter loved spending
time with family and friends, taking road trips and collecting coins.
He very much enjoyed his daily coffee and conversation with his pals
at Tim Hortons.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York
St., on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. A funeral service
at 4:00 pm will follow in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Interment
will be in St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church Cemetery at a later
date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s memory can be made to
Gideon Bibles or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
