In Loving Memory
The death of W. Robert Ferguson occurred on November 7, 2017, at the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor in Riverview, New Brunswick.
Mr. Ferguson was born in Moncton, the son of the late Walter C. Ferguson and Mary Whalen.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church and a retiree of the CNR for the past 26 years where he worked as Chief Accountant for the Atlantic Region.
‘Bob’ was an avid sports fan and an athlete. He excelled in hockey as a member of the Moncton Bruins when they became the 1944-45 Maritime Junior Hockey Champions in Halifax. He was also a member of the Moncton Carson Landscapers when they became the 1963 Maritimes Senior ‘A’ Champions. Later in life, he enjoyed golf and curling, the latter of which saw his Royal Canadian Legion curling team represent New Brunswick at the Canadian Championship in Regina. In 2003, Bob’s role on the Moncton Carson Landscapers team was officially recognized when the team was inducted into Softball New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame in Fredericton.
He is survived by his wife, Verla E. (Shaffer) Ferguson, his daughter, Judy A. Vincent; his son, W. Ronald Ferguson (Heather Laltoo); three grandchildren, Gregory M. Ferguson, Alexandra J. Ferguson, and Stacey A. Vincent; one great-grandchild, Miles R. Ferguson; and one sister, Ruth M. McDonald. He is predeceased by his brothers, Donald E. Ferguson and Bruce H. Ferguson; his son, Brian R. Ferguson; and his son-in-law, Mark E. Vincent.
Interment will be at Fair Have Funeral Home. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Manor for their excellent care and support in making the final days of Robert comfortable and serene.
