1934-2017
Was born to Dan and Margaret Pitawanakwat on June 26, 1934 in South Bay.
From our hearts with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, with family by her side on Monday October 23, 2017.
Virginia and Cecil, had five children: Denise predeceased 2002, Daryl (Gladys) of Buzwah, Anna-Leah of Regina, Alanis (friend Bitsy) of Ottawa, and Shoo-Shoo (Troy) of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory; seven grandchildren: Candace, Feather (Greg), Cheyenne, Tanis, Dylan, B’Elanna and Blake; and four great grandchildren: Phoenix, Winter, Declan and Hudson.
Predeceased by her parents, Dan and Margaret Pitawanakwat, and siblings Phyllis, Ron, Clarence, and Stanley.
Survived by her brothers Raymond, Victor and Morris and her sisters, Joyce and Sheila.
Our Mom cared deeply for many nieces and nephews and together, share fond warm memories.
Virginia was a career federal public servant in Ottawa. She felt strongly about giving back to community and generously gave her time by volunteering for various community organizations. Virginia enjoyed being a hockey mom and even more so a hockey grandma who rarely missed a puck drop! Virginia was dedicated to her faith, from which she drew strength throughout her life.
Resting at the Spanish Hill Community Centre (South Bay) from Tuesday October 24, 2017.
Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace, South Bay, on Thursday October 26, 2017 at 11:00 am.
Cremation to follow funeral service.
