Obituary for Victor Eugene Lair
Victor Eugene Lair, of Walkerton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was 81. Loving father to Kevin (Joan), Steve (Shirley Anne) both of Walkerton, and Brian (Wendy) of Elmira. Victor was the proud grandpa to Dustin (Krissy), Tyson (Kalena), Jordan, Marissa, Courtney, Ryan, Matthew, Megan, Riley, Ryan, Kayla, and a great grandpa to Madison and Aspen. Victor will be remembered by his sister Anne Marie (Barry) Clouthier of Pembroke, and his sisters-in-law Florence Lair of Ottawa, Evelyn Smith of Kingston, and Dorothy Crigger of Sudbury.
Victor will be dearly missed by his special friend Betty O’Hagan of Walkerton.
Predeceased by his wife Shirley, parents Hubert and Catherine, brothers Armand, Theophile, Vincent and his wife Patricia, and sister Luella Laundry.
Victor came to Walkerton in 1962 with his young family when he purchased Toplack Jewellers, renaming it Victor Lair Jewellers. Victor owned and operated the store until 2005 when his son Steve and his wife Shirley Anne took over the business. Victor always joked he was going to “hang it up” when he reached 50 years in the business and he did just that , retiring at the end of 2012. In his retirement he enjoyed his home and property where he spent many hours. He enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren and very recently 2 great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited for visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9. 2017 at the Cameron Funeral Home , Walkerton (1106 Yonge Street). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton (221 Victoria Street). Fr. Andrew Quarshie officiating. Internment to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
