Peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, Vernon William Barber, of Owen Sound, at the age of 77 years, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, on Sunday, February 26th, 2017 at the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Ruth Barber (nee Byers) for 30 wonderful years. Loving father of Darren Barber (Shaunine), Rodney Barber (Cecile), both of Owen Sound, Laurie Bryans (Calvin), of Chatsworth, Jeff Williton (Tracey), of Georgian Bluffs, Tim Williton (Katherine), of Perth and Brad Williton (Shelly), of Georgian Bluffs. Proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Marilyn Williton, Joan Buckton (George), Doreen Irving, all of Owen Sound, Cliff Barber, of London and Betty-Lou Farrow (Lorne), of Owen Sound. Dear brother-in-law of Paul Byers (Norma), of Owen Sound, Pat McIntyre (Isaac), of Mississauga, Donna Bennett (John), of Wiarton and Brian Byers, of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Daisy Barber; his brother, Truman Barber; his brother-in-law, Jack Williton, his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Eva Byers.
Friends may call at the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service for Vern Barber will be held at the Alliance Church, 440 – 7th Avenue East, Owen Sound, on Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Sensenstein and Pastor John Classey officiating. Spring interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Georgian Buffs. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce, the Strathaven Baptist Church or the charity of your choice as an expression of sympathy.
