Vernon William Hauck of Camrose, formerly of Edmonton, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the age of 70 years. Vernon William Hauck was born to Frank and Annie Hauck on April 17, 1947 in High Prairie, Alberta. He had three siblings, Al, Annie and Francis. The family moved to Jarvie after their years in High Prairie. Vern attended high school in Westlock. After school, he left home and went north to work on the river boats around Hay River, NWT. Vern met his first wife, Linda in the summer of 1967 and they were married the following summer. Vern joined the Edmonton Fire Department on May 26, 1969 and subsequently retired as a Captain on April 17, 2007. Vern and Linda had two children, Michael and Joanie. After their divorce, Vern moved to Killiam, AB where he pursed many hobbies such as trapshooting, hunting, travelling in his motorhome, and antique car restoration. Vern was most proud of restoring his 1964 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport. Vern recently moved to Camrose when he met his second wife, Leny. They separated soon after but he had planned to remain a resident of Camrose. Vern was very proud of his children and grandchildren and would constantly boast about their accomplishments. He would tell anyone he met and show complete strangers their pictures.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Joanie (Murray) Smith of Beaumont, and Michael (Chylin) of Rocky Mountain House; four grandchildren; and sisters Annie Hansen of BC, and Francis (Tim) Barker of Hay Lakes.
Vern was predeceased by his brother Al, and parents Frank and Annie.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating.
