Vera Doreen Carlson – 2017

Vera Doreen Carlson (nee Birbeck), born and raised on a farm near Greencourt, AB passed away peacefully in Edmonton on March 1, 2017, at the age of 91 years.
Vera is survived by her three children, Lorna Chaudhary, Christina (Raghu) Hitkari, and Norman (Marie) Carlson, ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and their siblings, Adeline Parker, Jack Birbeck and Rose Berryman. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Adolph Kristian Carlson in 1983; her son-in-law, Naseer Chaudhary in 1994; and two brothers, Ernest and Tom Birbeck in 2000 and 2014 respectively.
Vera Carlson lived her whole life in Alberta and raised her family in Devon and on the farm near Mayerthorpe. In the late sixties, she worked off the farm as Head Cook at Blunt’s Nursing Home and then as the matron of Pleasant View Lodge, a position she held until she retired in 1984. Her lifelong attachments and community involvements gave her a strong affection for her many relatives and friends in the Mayerthorpe area.
Memorial Service Monday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 126, 5111 – 45 Avenue, Mayerthorpe with Reverend Ruth Lotholz officiating, followed by a social.
Please join our family in celebrating the life of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
