Ulrich Egon von Doeler

Ulrich Egon von Doeler

VON DOELER, ULRICH (1920-2017)
– Ulrich passed away at the Mattawa Hospital with his wife at his side, on Sunday April 16, 2017, at the age of 97 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Brigitte (nee Neumeier). Dear father of Ursula Mueller (Klaus), Bruno von Doeler (Linda) Dieter von Doeler and Kathrine Stackelberg (Herb).
Opa will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Andrea, Kevin, Shane, David, Elana, Shawn, Kristina, Tom, Seamus, Michael, Erik and Marina, and also his great grandchildren. Also survived by one sister, Ilse Ponto.
Ulrich was born on the family farm in Rutherglen, and spent his life there farming the land, together with his wife Brigitte. He loved the bush and making firewood, and for many years raised free-run chickens and sold ‘von Doeler eggs’ to North Bay and area businesses. He enjoyed carpentry and was a visual artist. He loved to entertain the family playing his harmonica ‘tunes’, which he did at home right up until a week before his passing. He enjoyed boating on Lake Talon and camping with Brigitte. His kind nature and his wonderful humour will live forever in the hearts of his family and all those who knew him as Opa.
No visitation or funeral service. A private family celebration of Ulrich’s life will be held at the von Doeler farm in Rutherglen. In his memory, donations to the Mattawa Hospital would be gratefully appreciated, in recognition of the staff’s kindness to Ulrich in his final days.
