It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Tyler Scott Connolly on September 29, 2017 at the age of 35. He was born in Drayton Valley, Alberta.
He had finally found true happiness living in the Slocan Valley after being raised in Calgary, AB.
Tyler is survived by his Mother Claire Chilton ( Doug ), his father Gary Connolly ( Jane ), brother Adam Connolly (Flower), and sister Megan Connolly (Son Rylan and partner Matt), partner Dasha Koutsky (boys Anatoli and Nikolai), step brothers / sisters, and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
Tyler was a good natured, very generous, and soft hearted man that was fun to be with.
He always saw the good in each person that he crossed paths with. He was a natural with children, always attentive and respectful, kids absolutely loved talking and being with him. Tyler took great care with the ones he loved, looking after their needs and making sure he was available to them; he was selfless and kind in nature. He had a great sense of humor; dry, witty and slightly sarcastic, he would play along with the joke anytime.
His most beautiful qualities were his honest nature, his ability to live in the moment and his capacity to love deeply. He was always true to his integrity, loyal to those close to him and his empathy knew no bounds. Tyler was generous with his time and would gladly lend a hand whenever it was needed.
A true outdoorsman, His passions were the mountains, waterfalls, lakes, scenic views, the moon and the stars. He spent his time hiking and boating, camping and backcountry backpacking. He excelled at downhill skiing, and was a real sharp shooter. When he wasn’t out on an adventure, he’d be in the backyard, enjoying a fire and being with his friends and family. He was happiest to be outdoors- in any season. Tyler loved to connect with people in his soft, gentle way, but he also enjoyed time alone, where he could just appreciate all the beauty that surrounded him.
He had a love for computers and technology and was always up to date with the latest tech. He was curious to learn new things, and challenged himself to solve any puzzle. When Tyler decided to do something after tons of research, there was nothing that could stop him. He would do anything to live in the BC valleys and he was the happiest in his life here. His latest project was working on a Timber Frame home in the Valley, but his real talent was with computers, which is where he excelled and was quite a genius.
Also, he had an exceptional eye for taking wonderful photographs from a unique point of view, and would see things that others would easily miss. His patience was one of his many virtues. He never judged, and always was able to see the good in people. He was hard working and did the best of his ability on every task. He even tried his hand on his Mom’s Potters wheel, and was a natural at that, making 3 good bowls on his first afternoon.
The true measure of the success of one’s life is not our accomplishments, the wealth we have accumulated or the status that we have achieved. It is measured by the positive impact that we have had on other people. Tyler will forever be remembered as a very successful man, for he had a positive impact on so many lives.
