Obituary of Tony Palach
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at University Gates, Waterloo on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the age of 64 after a valiant battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy. His firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Tony was born on February 26, 1953 in Kitchener, Ontario to Helen and Walter Palach. He first met the love of his life, Jolanda, in grade school and later married her in 1979. Together they raised three beautiful children.
Tony is survived by his wife Jolanda, children Jennifer Mihas (Saki), Kimberley and Michael, grandchildren Marcus and Elle, parents Helen and Walter, brothers John (Donna) and Randy (Cathy), sisters Bonnie Rajcak (Eric), Susan Palach (Cindy) as well as several nieces and nephews.
Tony worked for Uniroyal Chemical in Elmira for 35 years. He was also a member of the Elmira volunteer fire brigade and participated in training for fire fighters. In his later years, Tony joined St. John’s Ambulance as a CPR instructor and was honoured for his dedication in this area.
Thank-you to the staff of Sunnyside Home and University Gates LTC for their utmost care and compassion during the last months of his life.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Anthony with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, 173 Lourdes Street, Waterloo, on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rafal Toman as Celebrant.
Reception to follow in the church hall.
