OHNO, TOM
January 23, 1937 – December 9, 2017
Tom Ohno passed away suddenly on December 9, 2017. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Pat, in March of 2014, after six decades of togetherness. He is survived by his siblings, Tamiko, Ted (late Shirley), Rumiko (late Ichio) and the late Connie and Steve, Kaz (Sets), and also survived in Ottawa by in-laws, Beatrice Chapman (late Frank), Jim Butler (Theresa), and Shirley Butler (late Art), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Mission, B.C. and evacuated to Shaughnessy, Alberta in 1942. Then to Barnwell/Taber and Lethbridge, AB. After graduating from Calgary Tech, he moved to Ottawa to start his life long career at the Communication Research Council at Shirley’s Bay.
Tom was liked by all for his gentle sense of humour and his kind demeanor. He was always willing to help friends and
neighbours, and to try to fix anything that was brought to him, he loved a challenge. Pat and Tom’s life revolved
around their beloved cottage, where they spent the majority of their time in retirement. Tom was a respected man who lived his life with integrity. He will be remembered for his dedication to work and his love of family, and will live
on in the memory of those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to visit and share their memories and stories of Tom at Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, 613-692-1211 on Wednesday, December 20 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. For those who wish, contributions in his memory may be directed to the Heart Institute.
