DESMOND, Thomas William 62, Halifax passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 6th,2017 in the VG hospital, Centennial Building with his loving wife Yvonne & sister Roxanne presence. Born in New Glasgow, Thomas (Tommy) was the son of the late Walter Howard Desmond & Leona Pauline Borden-Desmond, Clyke. Tommy is a semi-retired Halifax Regional Metro Transit bus driver. He was previously employed by Via Rail for ten years. He also enjoyed travelling, swimming, singing & playing musical instruments. Tommy’s friendly, jokey, & upfront honest spirit was loved by many who he knew. He touched many lives with words of wisdom, encouragement & advisor he will be missed by many. Tommy had a servant’s heart & his desire was to serve ‘Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ with his whole heart. He was a faithful servant of Lord & a Deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He also serves on the Usher/Greeters Team, Teller Team, & Vice –Treasurer of Emmanuel Brotherhood. As well he participates monthly with the Men of Emmanuel providing music at White Hills Nursing Home & assists in other church events. In previous years Tommy served on the Praise & Worship Team, Sunday School Teacher, & Assistant Director of Emmanuel Men`s Choir. During the period approximately 2011 – mid 2013 at Impact Ministries, Tommy provided praise & worship at Wednesday prayer services, also at Sunrise Manor for the residences & assisted with Sunday`s music. At Impact Ministries Tommy additionally served as a member of the Building Maintenance/Beautification Team. Survived by loving wife Yvonne; daughters, Tracy, Montreal, Leona (Juno) Halifax. His brother Walter (Mary) Mississauga, sisters Lillian, Toronto, Roxanne (Tom) Halifax, special son Emmanuel (Charlene) Truro, special family Natasha, Dartmouth, 7 grandchildren,Tony, LaKeysha, Jaime, Montreal, Denzell (KeKe), Toronto, Deiaz, Newfoundland, Junasia, Halifax, Janelle, Truro, 2 god-children, many nieces & nephews. Step-mother Pearlene Desmond & many step brothers & sisters from the Desmond / Clyke families. He was predeceased by his father, Walter Howard Desmond & mother, Leona Pauline Borden-Desmond, Clyke & three bothers Robert, Lewis & Derrick. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Emmanuel Baptist Church, Upper Hammonds Plains, NS. Funeral service will be held Monday, Dec 11th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Lennett J. Anderson officiating. Interment at Oakridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Sackville, N.S. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society of NS, Emmanuel Baptist Church, or Impact Ministries Church. There will be no repast.
