Thomas Walsh – 2017

THOMAS JOSEPH WALSH – Age 84, of Mount Pearl, NL, passed peacefully away August 9th, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. Born January 28, 1933 in St. John’s, he was the son of the late Thomas and Hilda (Mason) Walsh. Left with 57 years of fond and loving memories his wife Alice (Major). Many special memories by his children, son Todd and daughter Kelly. His grandchildren in Alberta: Lane, Colby and Kaysn. Many special memories with his grandson Channon (little Tommy). Nieces Rosalind (John) Farrell, Maureen Williams, Donna (Bruce) Martin, Toni (Pat) Bruce, Shelly Power, Heidi (Gary) Cameron and Jennifer Major. Nephews Charlie (Julie) Follett, Shawn Follett and Chris (Leah) Major and many Great-Nieces and Nephews. He is survived by brother in-law John (Alma) Major and Sister In-law Janet Major. Special friends Marg Tiller, Stan and Shirley Boone. Predeceased by sisters: Marie Power and Mercedes Follett and Brother In-laws: Jim Major and Norbert Power. Thomas (Tom) Walsh was a cornerstone in the development of numerous sports in Mount Pearl. He was an active developer in swimming, soccer, recreational softball and bowling. As a result of this extensive involvement, Tom was inducted into the Mount Pearl Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 22nd, 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23rd, from St. Peter’s Church, Ashford Drive Mount Pearl. Reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date. Family Flowers Only. Donations maybe made in Tom’s memory to Ronald McDonald House, Heavenly Creatures or the Gathering Place.
