Theresa (Tess) Marie Sewell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in the presence of her loving family. She was born on July 28, 1929 to the late Clifford and Rose Comeau.
She is survived by her devoted husband Douglass whom she married in 1951. She will be deeply missed by her children; Brian (Anne Marie), Diane (Thomas) and David (Valerie), grandchildren; Tracey, Tara (Tony), Christopher, Patti (Charles), Kevin (Allison), great grandchildren; Matthew, Staci, Izabella, Abbigail, Nathan, Caleb and Ava, brother John (Marilyn) and sister-in-law Norma.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Margaret and Patsy, and brothers Reynold and Austin, as well as brother-in-law David.
Tess was a kind, giving and wonderful wife, mother and friend. She liked the special occasions; Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving when the family gathered together. She was a great cook and was happiest in the kitchen preparing feasts for all of us. She loved to knit and sew and made many items of clothing for her children and grandchildren. Tess enjoyed music, card club and parties with family and friends as well as being employed with MRA and the Royal Bank. Tess lost her courageous 8 year battle with Leukemia and amazed the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit with her positive attitude, compassion and caring of others above herself. She will be remembered for her kindness, beautiful smile and loving spirit.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Following cremation, services will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 20, at 4pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
